Several figures about the PILAPT®

FTA Indigo cadets applicants take the PILAPT tests.
FTA Indigo cadets take PILAPT® tests
For more than 20 years over 100,000 people have taken the PILAPT®, either at an airline company or at a flight training school. The outcome of these assessments is such that only an average of 30% of all applicants pass the aptitude tests. The rest of the candidates are either discouraged or overwhelmed by the examination process. The actual performance threshold required to pass varies from one company to another and depends on the current pilots needs and applicants experiences. Therefore, these aptitude tests do require serious effort and focused practice.

Etihad selection includes PILAPT® tests
The PILAPT® exam lasts a few hours, which makes it a challenge akin to a marathon. The series of tests, of which the order and layout varies from one selection to another, statistically predict an applicant's likelihood of success in his/her future training and his/her potential to meet the technical and human requirements at his/her new company or FTO. These tests will screen his/her aptitude from the following points of view: focusing ability, memorizing capacity, spatial ability, numerical ability and psychomotor skills. At the exam, each tests is preceded by a training sample. Moreover, the psychomotor tests (PILAPT® - ILS tracking, PILAPT® - Multi task and PILAPT® - Fly through boxes) are taken with a joystick.
